WesterosCraft runs on more than builders. Several specialized teams keep the project moving, from terrain work to mod development, art, and music. Each is a volunteer role you can contribute to alongside or instead of building.
Terraform
The Terraform team handles terrain work that goes beyond what individual project leaders can do on their own. While project leaders have access to basic terraforming tools for smaller adjustments within their project, the Terraform team takes on larger or more complex requests that require dedicated effort and coordination.
This is a service role. Terraformers work on requests from Wardens and project leaders, not on their own projects. Joining the team means volunteering your skills to help the broader server.
What Terraformers Do
- Shape terrain for approved projects: hills, valleys, rivers, forests, coastlines, and other natural features
- Execute large-scale world edits that require tools like WorldEdit or Axiom
- Coordinate with project leaders to match their vision and plans
- Work on requests prioritized by Wardens or submitted by project leaders
How to Request Terraform Work
Submit your request in the dedicated terraform channel on Discord. Include:
- Project name and location
- What needs to be done: describe the terrain change as specifically as possible
- Why it's needed: context on how it fits your project plans
Scope matters. Routine requests, such as shaping a river, filling in a hillside, or placing a forest, can be submitted directly. Requests involving significant changes to the landscape, such as new mountain ranges or major geographical alterations, require discussion with your Warden before submission. When in doubt, check with your Warden first.
Joining the Terraform Team
Terraformers are Builders who want to contribute to the server beyond their own projects.
Requirements
- Full Builder rank
- Proficiency with WorldEdit and Axiom
- Interest in terrain and landscape work
To express interest, reach out to a Warden or admin.
Mod Development
The Mod Development team builds and maintains the WesterosCraft modpack. This includes developing new features, fixing bugs, and keeping the pack up to date. The work is technical, and contributors are expected to bring prior modding experience and a portfolio of work they've shipped.
If you have relevant experience and want to contribute, reach out in Discord (opens in a new tab) with a summary of your background and examples of your work.
Art
The Art team creates textures for the WesterosBlocks mod, the custom block pack that gives WesterosCraft its distinct visual identity. Contributors work on block textures that need to fit seamlessly into the world and hold up across a wide range of builds and regions.
This role requires demonstrable texture art experience. Reach out in Discord (opens in a new tab) with a portfolio of your work.
Music
The Music team composes and produces music for the WesterosCraft modpack. Contributions should fit the tone and setting of the world: atmospheric, period-appropriate, and suitable for long listening sessions while exploring.
If you're interested in contributing, reach out in Discord (opens in a new tab) with examples of your work.
